‘Tis the season to be jolly and here at TBG HQ we’re determined to make that happen with our special Christmas mulled wine recipe!

Every year our homemade mulled wine becomes hugely popular during the festive season, and this Christmas is no different. Right now, we are in the process of slow cooking over 80 bottles of our secret recipe ready for Christmas parties, winter weddings, festive gatherings, and cosy nights in.

There’s something about the smell of warm spices, citrus, and red wine slowly simmering away that instantly feels like Christmas. Whether you’re hosting friends at home, planning a winter event, or simply curling up beside the fire, a proper Christmas mulled wine always creates that festive atmosphere.

The Bar Guys Christmas Mulled Wine Ingredients

Our mulled wine is a delicious mix of:

• Merlot
• Ruby Port
• Cognac
• Cloves
• Fresh nutmeg
• Cinnamon
• Allspice berries
• Fresh ginger
• Star anise
• Bay leaves
• Clementine juice
• Mixed peel
• Citrus zest
• Raisins
• Vanilla pod
• Maple syrup
• Sugar

It’s this incredible blend of festive ingredients, combined with a long slow cooking process, that gives our mulled wine its rich flavour and smooth finish.

The ruby port adds depth and warmth, while the cognac creates a luxurious richness that makes every sip feel extra special. Fresh citrus and warming spices balance everything beautifully, creating the perfect winter cocktail for Christmas celebrations.

Why Slow Cooking Makes The Difference

For us, great mulled wine is all about patience.

We slowly heat our mulled wine over several hours to allow all of the spices, fruits, and flavours to properly infuse together. This creates a smoother, richer drink compared to quickly heated mulled wines that can often taste overly sharp or too sugary.
